Faith Community Church

Core Values

The Heart of What Matters

A desire to glorify God because:

We value commitment to Scripture as the inspired, inerrant Word of God. It is our desire to make the Bible the centerpiece of our church program, because we believe the Holy Spirit uses the Bible to bring change to people’s lives. We desire to teach the Gospel and the implications of the Cross as found in God’s Word to both believer and unbeliever with the hope of seeing transformation take place in their lives. Therefore we desire to be characterized by an emphasis on teaching that informs and motivates toward such change.

We value a meaningful worship experience for all believers. In our weekly times of worship, we desire to focus the attention of our people on God’s character through a blend of both contemporary and traditional music, through corporate prayer, and through biblically-based sermons. We desire our worship services to be the experience of a family giving honor and praise to our Heavenly Father, through the Son, in the power of the Spirit. While rejecting church as a “feel-good” experience, it is our desire that people leave Sunday worship having been encouraged, challenged, and strengthened in their commitment to love God and to serve Him.

We value the spiritual formation of every believer and call our people to a biblical lifestyle and a lifetime pursuit of discipleship. We desire each person who is a part of the congregation of Faith Community Church to commit himself or herself to the disciplines of learning, prayer, fellowship and ministry. Our teaching ministries will include instruction in spiritual disciplines, the responsibilities of Christian fellowship, and the recognition of spiritual gifts.

We value an “every member ministry” and desire our people to function according to their giftedness and the opportunities God gives them. We believe that the New Testament clearly teaches that the work of the church is done by the people, not just the leadership of a church. Leadership is called to provide mentoring, guidance and training; however the people are also involved in both formal and informal ministry to each other and to the world in which we live.

We value the existence of a family relationship among our people. We believe that the Christian life is best lived in community and will encourage participation in small group experiences. We also desire to experience harmony through the pursuit of open, loving communication between leadership and people.

We value ministry to all people. We desire that our church be viewed as an open, welcoming community. We want people to regard our ministry as something that effects a change in their lives, challenging them to joyfully participate in our church life. It is our desire that we minister to the needs of every participant in our church regardless of age, social circumstance and cultural diversity. We also aim to provide programs and ministries that are “family friendly” in order to strengthen Christian homes because of the foundational importance of the nuclear family in God’s plan.

We value involvement in personal, local and cross-cultural mission. We desire that the church as a body and that individual believers in that body take seriously the Great Commission to reach people for Christ. We desire that people become involved in mission through individual efforts to reach others, through considering the potential of involvement in cross-cultural activities, and through active and meaningful investment in the lives of those missionaries supported by our church.
